AMCAD Engineering has recently acquired advanced RF & microwave test equipment for its laboratory of Limoges, France, in order to complete and improve its measurement capabilities.

These new equipments will allow AMCAD Engineering to answer the growth of its measurements and modelling activities and to further expand AMCAD’s commitment to serve customer needs with high-precision and advanced services.

New generation of Agilent Technologies PNA-X Network Analyser (4-ports 26.5GHz with a second internal source) combined with 40GHz PNA with pulsed RF measurement capabilities have been chosen to deliver precision RF measurements. “After a complete benchmark of the main VNAs on the market, we decided to work with Agilent solutions which offer the most powerful capabilities. These PNA and PNA-X will both serve our measurement services and support our R&D efforts” said Tony Gasseling, general manager of AMCAD. Indeed, beyond classical RF measurements, these Vector Network Analysers will be used for Pulsed IV/ RF measurements, Load-Pull characterization (CW and pulsed, two-tones, active and passive source-pull), and will be used to support the R&D engineers developing new characterization techniques.

AMCAD also purchase 0.8-18 GHz Multi-Purpose tuner (MPT) from Focus Microwaves Inc. The iMPT0818 use three independent wideband probes allowing independent control of the amplitude and phase of the reflection factor at all three harmonic frequencies. The MPT’s main application is harmonic load pull, which can be performed in CW or pulsed mode, as well as with complex modulation signals.
